Introduction : Female infanticide is the deliberate killing of newborn female children or the termination of a female fetus through selective abortion. Female foeticide is the killing of an otherwise healthy female fetus, in order to get rid of a female child by means of Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) or "Abortion?. Female foeticide is considered a criminal offence in India. Objective; The objectives of the study were to assess the effectiveness of planned teaching program on knowledge and attitude of adolescent girls of urban and rural schools towards safe motherhood and female feticide in selected schools of Haryana. Methodology : The sample comprised of 60 adolescent school going girls. Data was collected through structured interview schedule and likert's five point attitude scale. Data analysis revealed that t values for knowledge and attitude were statistically significant at .05 level. Result : result also showed that there was no statistically significant relationship between the knowledge and attitude. The findings of the study reflect that PTP was effective in enhancing knowledge and developing favourable attitude of regarding adolescent girls of urban and rural schools towards safe motherhood and female feticide. Conclusion : On the basis of the above findings of the present study shows that urban and rural school girls have deficit of knowledge in about safe motherhood and female feticide.
